Jolie Tong (she/her) is a director, deviser and educator generating theatre at the intersection of artistic and civic practice. Her creative work explores culturally diverse narratives, investigates and questions systems of power, engages community and reinterprets classical plays using a modern critical lens.  She has been awarded grants from the Department of Cultural Affairs, New York State Council for the Arts and is a member of the first ever Howard Gilman Performing Artist Residency Cohort.   Her research interests focus on theatre for social change, community based theatre and collaborative theatre making.  Jolie was a presenter on the keystone panel: Revisiting the Past to Resist Power Structures in the Present at the 2023 Association for Theatre in Higher Education Conference and has also presented her research at the UCLA Asian Performing Arts on Stage and on Screen, Annual Symposium.  She is currently a Lecturer in Theater at Brooklyn College.
