Jolie was tough and no-nonsense with her approach as an educator. As tough as she was, she also gave me the grace I needed to grow in order to meet the standard of excellence she knew I was capable of. Jolie's teachings prepared me to be a generous collaborator. I felt confident in trusting my instrument and giving generously to my cohort upon beginning my grad school program (MFA Acting, Columbia University) because of what I experienced in Jolie's classes.
-Katherine George (Brooklyn College, Class of 2015)
“Jolie has taught me by example, directing and teaching with openness, sincerity, rigor, professionalism, tact, and kindness. I am the director and the person I am because I was lucky enough to learn from and work closely with Jolie as a student, assistant director, and collaborator
-Tessa Bagby (Drew University, Class of 2022)
“Jolie is a wonderful professor who challenges and cares about her students. I learned so much about directing through this class and Jolie's passion for directing and commitment to share her knowledge with her students made this class that I took for a major requirement genuinely enjoyable. She inspired me to want to be a director and further expanded my knowledge and interest in the subject of directing”
